Is there a quick way to switch between my laptop's built in mic and my external mic?

I was wondering if you could just push a button to switch between my laptop's built in microphone and the external microphone i am using. (the external mic is connected to my ipod). So you see the purpose it to switch between music streaming and me talking. Thanks for all help
