Will crapie dough bait work for trout so confused?

i got some white berkley crappie dough bait from a big box store should i use the white or use a colored dough bait i am so confused i am goin to a stream in st. louis area how do i use the dough bait it is the little nuggets not the jar of paste and i dont have a fly rod but i have some fly's i use an open faced reel
